MANCHESTER – 12th February 2021: Gama, a global provider of business information and services specializing in product innovation and international trade, is today pleased to announce that the Gama Innovation Conference & Awards will return to Manchester for its sixth edition on 28th October 2021.

This October, Manchester will once again play host to an inspiring and engaging showcase of fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) innovation, as leading industry players, dynamic start-ups, and other selected guests gather together to share best practice, discuss new opportunities and forge new partnerships.

Inspired by the success of 2020’s online event, GICA 2021 will also invite hundreds of selected delegates to participate virtually from all across the globe.

Ian Wright CBE, Chief Executive, Food & Drink Federation presenting the Gama Innovation Award 2019 – Branding & Design to Elieen Alban, Product Development Manager, Innocent Drinks.

As ever, the invitation-only event will begin with the Gama Innovation Conference, bringing together the great and the good from the world of consumer goods for a unique morning of presentations and discussions. The conference will be followed by the Gama Innovation Awards, a celebration of outstanding product innovation from around the world as voted by the leading names in the industry.

Meanwhile, delegates will also have the opportunity to network and get inspired within the Innovation Zone, where up to 40 disruptive companies will be showcasing a diverse selection of the latest game-changing launches.

Returning for 2021, the Meet The Buyer initiative will give innovative suppliers a unique opportunity to connect directly with a diverse range of retailers, distributors, and commercial partners from around the world. Also returning this year, Meet The Investor pairs innovative start-up and scale-up FMCG businesses with private and institutional investors keen to expand their consumer goods portfolios.

Commenting on the announcement, Gama Founder & CEO Cesar Pereira said: “Despite all of the challenges of the past year, we are delighted that the Gama Innovation Conference & Awards (GICA) will return in 2021 as both an in-person and online event, once again shining a light on Manchester as a hub for consumer goods (FMCG) innovation. The success of our 2020 edition shows how GICA continues to evolve to meet the needs of stakeholders from across the industry, including start-ups and scale-ups, established brands, retailers, and investors. I have no doubt that GICA 2021 will offer delegates even more ways to connect and interact in GICA’s trademark exclusive yet informal setting”.

Ian Wright CBE, Chief Executive, Food & Drink Federation said: “GICA is an absolutely brilliant showcase for innovation in the food & drink industry. It’s full of inspiring stories about how businesses are approaching the whole question of disrupting the existing market and growing their businesses, product lines and brands. This event has grown over the years, in particular with the innovation showcase, and it’s a really interesting verdict on Manchester and the Northern Powerhouse and the way in which it is touching every part of the British industry, and in particular the food & drink industry.”
