FINALISTS ANNOUNCED FOR THE GAMA INNOVATION AWARDS 2020
MANCHESTER – 17th August 2020: Manchester-based global insights specialist Gama is today pleased to reveal the finalists shortlisted for the Gama Innovation Awards 2020.
Recognising outstanding innovation in the FMCG space, the shortlists for the Gama Innovation Awards represent the very best launches unearthed in the last year by Gama’s global network of in-country researchers and analysts across eight categories: Product, Packaging, Positioning, Branding & Design, Health & Wellness, SME, Best of Britain and Best of Middle East.
As ever, this year’s shortlisted finalists give a revealing insight into the trends that have been shaping the consumer goods landscape over the past few months, with sustainability continuing to be a major driver of change, especially in packaging, and indulgence, vegetarianism, and clean eating remaining prominent. Cookie dough and churros have been notable breakout concepts, while the low-sugar and no-added sugar trend is gathering pace as health-conscious consumers look to cut their sugar intake. Paper-based packaging and bioplastics are on the up as companies seek to cut back on packaging waste, and meat alternatives are getting more sophisticated. Other award finalists demonstrate how brands are increasingly innovating through alignment with ethical initiatives.
Commenting on the shortlist, Gama Innovation Director Silvia Ruiz said: “In compiling the shortlists for the Gama Innovation Awards 2020 we sifted through hundreds of new and innovative products from over 40 countries, selecting only the most ground-breaking few for consideration by our expert judging panel”.
“Building on the success of its previous four editions, the Gama Innovation Awards 2020 will be a fantastic opportunity for all of our finalists to take their place in the spotlight, among a select audience of industry thought leaders from across the globe”.
Ian Wright CBE, Chief Executive, Food & Drink Federation said: “GICA is an absolutely brilliant showcase for innovation in the food & drink industry. It’s full of inspiring stories about how businesses are approaching the whole question of disrupting the existing market and growing their businesses, product lines and brands”.
The overall winner in each category, as voted by a panel of international judges, will be announced in a ceremony to take place in Manchester on 29th October 2020.
